Studio 1030, a Paul Mitchell Signature Salon, offers professional services that address all of your hair, skin and nails needs while only providing the best quality care. We are committed to providing superior customer service and want all of our guests to come in and treat themselves to a great salon experience.
We can only provide the best service if we are employed with the greatest staff. All of our professionals combined have over 155 years of work and experience in the industry. Each professional is very talented and each have their own area of expertise.
Studio 1030 is not only committed to producing quality results but also creating an overall great experience. When getting a pedicure you will get your pedicure slippers and toe separators so you don't mess up the polish, hot and cold water will be available at all times. In the winter hot chocolate will be served to all guests.
Studio 1030 is the salon dedicated to beautifying the campus and in helping students, faculty and staff treat themselves to a better salon experience.
Kristene Gillum, Manager
Kristene Gillum is the manager of Studio 1030, and really the only person cut out for the job. Gillum has her Cosmetology/Barber, Master Esthetics, Cosmetology/Barber Instructor, and Esthetic Instructor licenses. She received her Associates degree in Technical Biology from BYU-Idaho and studied Zoological Studies at Brigham Young University.
Gillum's motto is "Make it Happen," and you can see from her life that she does. She started at Bon Losee Academy and worked there for 15 years. Beginning as a receptionist she worked her way up to being the School Director (2006-2009).
From there she went to Marinello Schools of Beauty and became their School Director (2009-2012). Gillum also served on the Utah Beauty School Owners Association as an Executive Board Member. From instructing, leading, managing, coordinating and organizing there is almost nothing she can't do.
Gillum loves the industry she works in and her favorite part of it is helping people find themselves.
Alena Lopez has been in the industry since 2009. "I love making people feel beautiful about themselves and increasing their self-confidence. I get to be creative and meet new people," she says. "Asian hair, Color Melts/Ombre, Nail Design, I love it ALL!"
Dakotah Thornton has been working in the industry since 2012. She loves being a part of the change confidence can make in a person's life. She loves being able to make someone's day and make them smile. She also likes getting to meet new people while doing what she loves. She specializes in manicures, men's cuts, women's short cuts and styles, but she loves everything else in the industry, too.
Hannah Trimble has been working in the industry since 2010. She loves "being able to inspire and uplift other people. A good haircut can give someone confidence, and an optimistic stylist can make someone's day." She specializes in men's haircuts and women's long layers cuts.
Alair Simmons has been working in the industry since 2015. She loves getting to know everyone in her chair! “Each client has their own story to share and I love being able to listen to what they have to say!” Alair loves building the confidence of her clients and helping them feel beautiful inside and out. She specializes in women's and men's cuts,as well as lightening and styling.
Miscia Starrs has been in the industry since 2014. Miscia loves being able to help people feel good about themselves. When they feel good, she feels good. She specializes in haircuts and eyelash extensions.
Rachel Jensen has been in the industry since 2007. She loves what she does, "I love helping people feel more confident and to love their looks!" Rachel's specialties include nail art and just about everything else.
Sydney Muse has been in the industry since 2012. Sydney says, "I love being a part of the beauty experience and increasing the guest's confidence." Sydney specializes in colors and all haircuts, eyebrow shaping and facial waxing, and Shellac nails especially nail art.
Amy Thompson has been in the industry since 2009. "I love enhancing people's natural beauty," she says. "And making them feel confident in who they are both on the outside and the inside." Amy specializes in haircutting, coloring, and styling.
Karigan Jarvis has been in the industry since 2014. "I love the industry because I love being able to help make people both feel and look their absolute best!" she says. She specializes on haircutting and coloring, especially balayage.
Whitney England has been working in the industry since 2013. She feels that being a stylist is like making art work because it is so creative! Whitney specializes in balayage, haircuts, and color.
Lindsay Barney has been in the industry since 2014. She loves to help others feel their very best and exude confidence. She's always been passionate about hair and sharing her knowledge with others. She specializes in colors and lash extensions.
Carli Christensen has been working in the industry since 2014. She loves helping people look their best! She loves being able to meet and interact with new people everyday. She specializes on men's cuts and ombre and balayage colors.
Chloe Egbert has been in the industry since 2013. She loves meeting people and making them feel Beautiful! "Hair is an art and it is a way to express yourself, and I am here to help you achieve that." Specialties: Bridal Hair, Pixie Cuts, Makeup, and Men’s Cuts.
Cheree Kamp has been working in the industry since 2007. She loves creating things and believes each head of hair is like a new canvas. She thrives off face to face interaction with others. She specializes in color and cutting.
Andrea Kenison has been in the industry since 2013. She loves talking with people and helping them look and feel good. Specialties/Focus: Men’s Fades, Women’s Cuts, Balayage.
Kenzie Frank has been in the industry since 2015. She loves meeting and interacting with people and helping others see and achieve their potential beauty. "I love focusing on another person and making them feel beautiful and important." She Specializes in Blonding, Balayage, Ombre, Women’s Styles, Men’s Cuts, and Color.
Becca Cardon has been working in the industry since 2011. She loves meeting different kinds of people and doing her best to help them feel confident and beautiful. She specializes in Men and Women’s Haircuts and Special Occasion Hair.
Alexis Andraszczyk has been working in the industry since 2013. She loves the people that she works with and the environment of the salon. She enjoys making people feel better and more confident than they did before coming in. She specializes in Men’s and Women’s Cuts, Eyebrow Waxing and Shellac.
Hilary Nelson has been working in the industry since 2016. She enjoys the creativity and precision it takes to customize styles to make people look and feel confident and beautiful. She specializes in Blonding, Balayage, Ombre, Makeup and Men and Women’s Haircuts.
Cassandra Walker has been working in the industry since 2014. She loves the industry because she gets to help others express their personal style and help others feel great about themselves. She specializes in Highlights, Balayage, Updos and Eyebrow Waxing.
Adrianna Lewis has been working in the industry since 2016. She loves working with hair and helping people feel good about themselves. She loves meeting new people and she looks forward to every time she gets to see her clients again. She specializes in Blonding (Balayage, Ombre and Highlights), Coloring, Woman’s and Men’s Cuts.
Jim Cochran is from Heber City, Utah. Cochran attended barber school at Salt Lake Trade and Technical Institute and graduated in 1962. He has been a barber for 50 years and has been cutting hair at BYU for the past 43 years. Jim's favorite part of the industry is the people. "I like talking to people and I have a wonderful clientele," says Jim. "That is why I am still doing it." He is enjoying the new location and all the excitement it brings to the Wilkinson Center.
Gwen Wilcox is from Provo, Utah. Wilcox is the mother of five children, two of which are serving missions. She graduated from Hollywood Beauty School in 1981. For the past 27 years Wilcox has been working at BYU and she has thoroughly enjoyed her time here. "Working here has been great because you get to meet amazing people from all over the world," Wilcox says. She is enthusiastic about the new location and the beautiful space it is in.
